Morocco Family Tours: FAQ

How long should a desert tour with children be?

3 to 4 days is the usual minimum to reach Merzouga or Erg Chigaga, because the drive from Marrakech is 7–9 hours and is split over two days. With young children, the Agafay desert is about an hour from Marrakech and works for a single night.

Can we stop when the children need a break?

Yes. The tour is private, with your own vehicle and driver-guide and no other travelers, so you stop whenever you need to and the route adjusts to your pace.

What's included on every tour?

A private, air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking driver-guide, accommodation for the full route including at least one night in a Sahara desert camp, and an itinerary built around what you actually want to see.

Can I customize any of these packages?

Yes — every itinerary is a starting point. Tell us your dates and we'll build the rest around you.

How far in advance should I book?

2–4 months ahead for spring and autumn (March to May, September to November) and the Christmas and New Year weeks gives you the best choice of desert camps. Off-season trips can often be booked with just a few weeks notice.

Is it safe to travel to the Sahara desert in Morocco?

Yes — the desert routes we run are well established and our driver-guides know them well. You are never left alone; your guide stays with you for the full trip.
