Morocco Adventure Tours: FAQ

Merzouga or Erg Chigaga for an adventure tour?

Merzouga has the tallest dunes and the most camps and is reachable by paved road. Erg Chigaga is reached by 4x4 track from M'Hamid, has far fewer visitors, and suits people who want a quieter camp and some off-road driving.

How long are the camel treks?

Our camel treks last 4, 5 or 6 days. The 4-day trek starts in Marrakech; the 5 and 6-day treks start in M'Hamid El Ghizlane, at the end of the road to Erg Chigaga.

What's included on every tour?

A private, air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking driver-guide, accommodation for the full route including at least one night in a Sahara desert camp, and an itinerary built around what you actually want to see.

Can I customize any of these packages?

Yes — every itinerary is a starting point. Tell us your dates and we'll build the rest around you.

How far in advance should I book?

2–4 months ahead for spring and autumn (March to May, September to November) and the Christmas and New Year weeks gives you the best choice of desert camps. Off-season trips can often be booked with just a few weeks notice.

Is it safe to travel to the Sahara desert in Morocco?

Yes — the desert routes we run are well established and our driver-guides know them well. You are never left alone; your guide stays with you for the full trip.
