Start from Marrakech 7 Days / 6 Nights

A 7-day, 6-night private tour that starts with an airport pick-up in Marrakech, crosses the High Atlas to a night in a camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga, gives you a full guided day in Fes, and ends in Chefchaouen with a last transfer to the city you fly out of. You have your own vehicle and English-speaking driver from Mhamid El Ghizlane for all seven days. Price from €970. Day by day

Day 1 – Arrival in Marrakech

Your driver meets you at Marrakech Menara airport and takes you to your riad. The rest of the day is free: Jemaa el-Fna square is a ten-minute walk from most medina riads, and the food stalls open at dusk.

Day 2 – Marrakech to Boumalne Dades

Departure at about 8 am over the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m) to Aït Benhaddou, where you walk up through the kasbah before lunch. The afternoon route passes Ouarzazate, the Skoura palm grove and the rose fields of El Kelaa M’Gouna, ending at Boumalne Dades at the foot of the Dades Gorge.

Day 3 – Todra Gorge and a night in Erg Chebbi

Morning at the Todra Gorge near Tinghir, a 300 m-deep canyon you can walk through in half an hour. Lunch on the way in Tinejdad, then Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, and Merzouga. Late afternoon the camels take you about 90 minutes into the dunes to the camp: dinner, drumming around the fire, and a night under the sky in a tent with a proper bed.

Day 4 – Merzouga to Fes

Sunrise from the dune, camel ride back, shower and breakfast, then north through the Ziz Valley palm groves, over the Middle Atlas via Midelt, the cedar forest at Azrou where Barbary macaques live, and Ifrane with its alpine-style houses, to Fes.

Day 5 – Fes with a city guide

A full day on foot in the world’s largest car-free medina with a licensed local guide: the Bou Inania madrasa, the Al Quaraouiyine mosque and university, the tanneries, Nejjarine square and its fountain, the pottery quarter and the Royal Palace gates. Your driver is off duty; you sleep in the same riad.

Day 6 – Fes to Chefchaouen via Meknes and Volubilis

One hour to Meknes for the Bab Mansour gate and the granaries of Moulay Ismail, 30 km on to the Roman city of Volubilis, then through Ouazzane and the Rif to Chefchaouen. The afternoon and evening are yours in the blue medina and the Ras el-Ma spring above it.

Day 7 – Chefchaouen to your departure city

After breakfast your driver takes you to wherever you fly out from. Tangier is the closest airport (about 2 hours); Fes is 3½ hours; Rabat and Casablanca 4 to 5 hours; Marrakech 7 to 8 hours with a lunch stop. Tell us the end city when you book and we plan the departure time around your flight.

Practical notes

• Accommodation: riads in the medinas of Marrakech, Fes and Chefchaouen; a hotel or kasbah guesthouse in the Dades Valley; a fixed desert camp with beds, linen and toilets in Erg Chebbi. A private luxury camp and 4-star hotels are available on request.
• Meals: 6 breakfasts and 6 dinners are included; lunches are at restaurants on the road (allow €8–15 per person).
• Vehicle: 4×4 or minivan depending on group size, the same driver all week.
• Best months: October to April. In midsummer the dunes pass 40 °C by noon, so desert activities move to early morning and late afternoon.
• Bring: a warm layer for the desert night (around 5 °C in winter), a scarf for the camel ride, comfortable shoes for Fes, and cash for lunches, entrance fees and tips.

   Day 1: Welcome to Marrakech

Along the way, you'll visit the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Ouarzazate, Skoura, and El Kelaa M'Gouna. End your day with an overnight stay in Boumalne Dades.

   Day 3: Boumalne Dades – Merzouga

   Prepare for a truly unique experience as you travel to Merzouga. After breakfast, journey towards the Merzouga desert, passing through Tinghir and the impressive Todra Gorge. Continue through Tinejdad and Erfoud, known for its fossils. In the evening, enjoy a camel ride at sunset to a desert camp for an overnight experience..

   Day 4: Merzouga to Fes

   Begin your day with breakfast and then head to Fes. On the way, you'll traverse the Ziz Valley and the Cedar forests, where you might spot Barbary macaques. Pass through Midelt and Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture, before arriving in Fes for your overnight stay.

   Day 5: Guided Tour of Fes

   After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour to explore Fes's historic sites. Visit the Madrasa Bou Inania, the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, the South Tower, the pottery village, Nejjarine Square, and the Royal Palace. Spend time in the rich history and culture of this ancient city.

   Day 6: Fes to Chefchaouen via Meknes and Volubilis

   Travel to Chefchaouen with stops in Meknes and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Meknes is renowned for its Bab Mansour gate, while Volubilis is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon reaching Chefchaouen, take in the blue-washed buildings of the old town.

   Day 7: Chefchaouen to Marrakech, Meknes or any other city

   After your breakfast in the riad, our journey will start towards volubilis, then driving forth via wazan and other rif villages Volubilis embodies the roman ruins and presents a unique archaeological site of Moroccan history, after the visit of the ruins we will shift our way to Meknes city, an imperial city in the 17th century, where we will hang around the historical huge walls of the medina, bab el mansour. Then we continue to Fes where the tour finishes.( We can finish with you in any other city you want).
